trick or treating with Obama and McCain

I LUV Halloween! This year MMM and I decided to dress up like our presidential candidates...I was Obama and he was McCain. Call it our own little social experiment. It took us hours and hours and..sigh...hours to get all dolled up. And then, out we went (Sam was the CUUTest little donkey carrying his stuffed elephant). So, it turned out that I was pretty bummed. I didn't end up with much candy at all and MMM had bags full. It was curious.......when I rang the doorbell and people opened the door, they reached into my bag and TOOK my hard-earned Candy mumbling something about 'spreading the wealth', 'sharing the wealth' and they put it right into MMM's bag. I mean, all he did was stand there. He didn't say trick or treat, didn't knock or ring the bell, and he got so much of my candy. Is that really FaIR?

good will

I lUV our great state and all the courteous drivers. I have lived many places and this is BY FaR the Best place to find polite drivers who are concerned about SAfEty and basic good Will towards Men. I love it when they drive about 2 inches from my bumper to let me know that they are ready to pass me................I mean, how else would I know this?? It is especially helpful when I am in the fast lane trying my hardest to get the DVD working and replying to my TXT messages. I also think it is TOTally great when a car zooms around me, gets in front and then makes sure to slam on the brakes to remind me of the speed limit and - ultimately - saving me from getting a ticket. My FAVorite though is probably the ones who are swerving all over the road trying to remind me it's always time for a bit of fun! I have no idea why Utah drivers are suppose to be bad???????????

loyalty

I love having close FrienDs and I LUV email so naturally when you get an email from a BFF it's SuPERbo. Email gives us the .................well, you know,................A bility to keep in touch and to open up when things might be going bad, terrific, or you just need a BFF to LOL! (Which recently happened to me....thanks for the great laughs BFF :) I recently got an email from an old neighbor relating all things about their personal - very personal tell no one but your BFF - on-goings and suCH. I was feeling pretty darn good about having such a GREAT relationship she felt she could come to me and let it all out. I mean, after all..................sigh, clearing the throat.....................I am like SUPER trustworthy, loyal, and TOTal non-gossiper (not to mention like super cute and very modest!). Everyone needs a BFF like me............(especially Paris Hilton).................or, as I later noticed on her email, 72 BFF's. We got spammed!! Don't get me wrong, I mean ...............I TOTally admire her for being able to throw her trash out the window as she is speeding down the information highway not caring who she hits with it along the way, BuT REaLLy? 72 other people got my same email? C'mon! Where's the loyalty man????

shake and share

I LUV this time of year. The colors are changing, it's darker earlier and lighter later, and it's flu season. I'm not ToTally sure xactly what the big deal is...........I say bring it on! Sneeze right in your hand and then shake, share that lollipop with your sick child, cough right in the open! It's all in the name of a better immune system. SerioUSly though, I truly read this WAY disgusting ARticlE about a stud-Y that was done in England. This may make you serioulSY ill to read about..........if you have a queasy tummy, better stop here! They found out that people who eat their wugs - you know, bugers.........(gross, gagging, throwing up) have better immune systems...........I KNOW, Right?????? Who volunteered for that kind of stud-Y. I figure that they must be totally righteous people who are interested in the well-being of mankind.

LYLAS

I love a good sense of humor! Laughter is like..............um............oh yeah, medicine. Not like the kind for cancer that makes your hair fall out or the kind for men that.........you know.........I am a little embarrassed to even type it..........what will people think of me? I mean, deep sigh, I have worked soooooooooooooo Hard for my repu tation that I am having a hard time putting myself out there. It's kind of like those naked dreams where everyone else is dressed and you are naked except that I'm not naked and there isn't really anyone else around. Other than that, it is TOTally the same thing.

A couple nights ago as I was knitting my husbands TOTally great SURPRISE Christmas gift ( I love the word Christmas.......you know, pause.........because CHRIST is in it and when I think about that I think about the great picture of him I got for my last birthday and then I always end up thinking about the great party, deeper sigh, and presents, deepest sigh of great satisfaction, and cake, taking a moment to relive the experience, ...nothing beats that!!) And I turned on the TV to find that it was stuck on this channel with a bunch of old.......I mean aged (I can be PO litical too) individuals all decked out. Since the fan kept going on and off every time I tried to change the channel and the CD kept blaring when I tried to turn it off..............yeah, we got one of those TOTally KilLer universal remotes that has nothing to do with the universe for our 2 year wedding anniversary - TOtally sweet huh? Who would've thought he could actually be so romantic - ...............AnyWays, WHere Was I?...............the TV show....right!

So there was a black man, a catholic preacher and an old guy all sitting together (no this is not one of those jokes....although I couldn't help but think it might be) and pretty soon they were getting up and I about busted my gut laughing. HILAriouS!!! LOL! ROTFL!!

Who would've guessed that McCain is actually funny? (Yeah, the old, I mean aging one). They had a great time and I was laughing so hard that MMM's 'surprise' now has one arm a bit longer than the other.....OOOpppppps! I hope you take time to laugh.......someone once told me that it takes more muscles and energy to frown than to laugh. I have ALWays wondered why the skinny girls all have frowns. I thought it was because they wanted some M&M's and couldn't have any, but now I know their little secret! It's to burn more calories so watch those smiles girls. You may get more than you bargain for (pounds that is). Love ya like a sis LYLAS!

party

I'm having a PARTY!!! Party time! I love that my neighborhood is so close To each other. It is TOTally AWesome how I get invited to sooooooooooooo MANY, um..............social eveNTs. It makes me feel soooo LOVEd when I get invited to someone else's party with NO StriNGs attached whatsoever. I want to give back to my community so I am hosting a PArTY. A fun time together where we can grow CLoSEr, have fun as friends, talk and open up, LAuGH, lauGH, LauGh. Please feel free to bring a friend (if you do, You get a PRIZE.....great party HUH?) and if you spend $25 or more you get a second prize..................did I mention, that this is a TUPPERwarE party? (Is there anything better than THAT?) LUV ya and see ya in the PArty ZOne!!

family pinic

I love sacrament meeting with kids! It's the BomB. I love it how people are so nice and always save us the front row right in front of the pulpit. I mean, how FABulous IS that? I have always wondered why the front row is saved for us and I have FINALLY figured it out. It is because our child is SOOOO well-behaved and reverent. They want to use our small, humble family as an example! I mean, it's kind of embarrassing, I mean.............you know..............to be singled out like this....in front of EVERYone. Our son Sam is so great in church, we have taught him well. I guarantee you that it has nothing to do with the fact that we bring string cheese, crackers, PB & J, chocolate milk, jello pudding, fun fruits, juice boxes, marshmallows.........the family picnic. No, it is not that at all. It is simply that Sam is 'unique' and, well, need I say more?

situational turrets

I love it when my mothering instincts kick in. I mean, it really is a sixth sense, a BleSSing of sorts wouldn't you tOtally agree with me? I am sURe that there is reSearch out there that backs me up on this! As protectors of our ChilDren it is OK to react to situations that may arise. Take last week for instance. I tOOk my SamMy to the city PArK to play. I have told you how 'UniQue' .....(aka gifted)...... he is. Well,........because of his 'uniqueness', he figured out how to climb out of the PLayGrounD sySTem and up onto the top of the TaLLest tube slide. That was all it took! My instincts were HOWLing. So, of course, I did the natural thing......breath.........the thing that most of us would have done.......(yep, I am sure that you would have done the same thing)........
I started screaming and crying and yelling.
I knOW!!! TOTally. You get me right?
Right there on the playground....other people staring at me, mouths open.......pause.......
as I let my 'mOthering InsTincts' take 100% control.
"Call 911!!!", "Sammy, DOn't move AT ALL!!", "HELP!!", "This is jUSt not OKay.
Who invented this slide ANYhow?!!", "Don't worry Sammy, I'm coming!"
I am sure the looks of AWE that I got from the spectATors was simply an Xpression of amazement. AmAzed that I was able to so easily let my instincts take over.
My BFF has another view on the whole thing. She witnessed the enTIRe ordeal and thinks that I may suffer from situational turrets. MMM TOTally agrees with her!!! APPARently this isn't the first time my 'instincts' have taken over.

practically the same

I just L-UUU-V conference weekend. Don't you just TOTalLy agree? And I for one am here to tell you that it has ABsolutley NoTHing to do with the fact that we can stay in Pj's all morning long, we don't have to fight kids, we can relax on the couch, no lessons to prepare...........No SIREEEEE. That has nothing to do with it. I mean I actually sometimes miss all the Sunday morning mayhem,
Uh...I mean....................pause...................family time;)
yeah, that's it, family time! .......kids showering, clothes ironed, lessons ready to go, no stress, happy faces on, loving conversation between kids and parents. It doesn't get much better than this!
This conference there was SO mUcH good stuff. I thought that it would be TOTally gReaT
and not at all weird,
to share what I got most out of this conferENce.
(Imean, I hope I don't TOTally FREak you out, but we are after all e-BFF's and we have to Be aBle to talk about thESe sortS of things)
There were so many upLiFtinG and iNspIrationAl messages. But I think that THE mosT INspiRed talk was by Pres. Monson. When he was talking it was like a burden was maGiCalLy lifted away, my load became LigHteR, my sTreSs disappeared.............as soon as I heard those magic words......
"don't worry about cleaning your house!"
YES, FINaLlY something that I can ActuaLly achieve. OKay, okay. So maybe he didn't say it in those exact words, it was more like "enjoy your children now, pretty soon they will be gone and you will miss them, yada, yada, yada". But, I mean, that's practically the Xact same thing!

reflections

I LOve the reflections contest! I LOVE it with ALL my heart. I am so EXStatic to find out that my little Sam can enter the reflections contest this year. He is the most ceative boy I have ever met. I have so many GREAT memories of planning what I wanted to do, sitting with my mom, sore fingers from all the work, hours and hours, tears and laughter, it was an exciting and tiresome process for me as I sat there and.....................watched my mom at work! It was such a good experience knowing that my mom wanted only the best for me...to WIN! And I am happy to say that I learned well from my mom. I just KNOW that he will win. GO SAMMY!!

aunt rose

I love it when MMM is sick. It is times like these that I really shine! I not only get to disinfect the house...yeah!!!, but I also get the opportunity to make homemade chicken noodle soup, put cold washclothes on his head, create a quiet atmosphere to allow MMM to sleep, take him Sprite to settle his tummy....... and.................. wear my killer new Bose headphones to drown out all the suffering cries, moans, groans, and complaining...it works like a charm. It is TRUELY a blessing that AUNT Rose doesn't visit him every month. I also try to be very thoughful and say things to comfort him (ya know, like things he said to me when I was having Sam). "Does it hurt sugar? It'll be over before ya know it! Now that's not so bad is it? Are you sure you want some pain meds?....you don't just want to hold out a little bit longer? And, You don't mind if I just run and rent a movie do you?" It's a shame that I don't have the same level of pain tolerance as MMM and most other men ;) Love ya tons and remember, we are happiest when we are serving!

the vanmobile

I love it when it's time to get a new car. This go around is xtra special for MMM and I. We are planning on adding to our family of 3 in the future so it's out with the convertible black BMW and in with the ............yep! Minivan!!! How great is that? I never thought that I would be lucky enough to 'trade up' as they say. I get so excited EVERYtime we go test drive one. We are hoping to find a nice vintage Astro van...do you remember those? They are hard to come by now so we may just end up with a spanking new one right off the lot! Now, I am not trying to create feelings of covetness, but rather trying to share my immense joy and excitement. It's all about the color...I'm thinking sky blue! For some reason MMM isn't as stoked about the color, but he'll get used to it. You see, I want my excitement to keep building so........I was thinking.....MMM can drive it until we have another baby and I'll drive his LandRover. It will all work out so nicely;) Good idea MMM, a minivan! Enjoy the fruits of your labor.

reconnecting with the past

So....I ToTally love it when I reconnect with old high school friends. It's the GREATest! I mean, take the other day for example. I agreed to meet up with an old friend at the local park with our kiddos in tow. It was great! From the minute she stepped out of her shiny car with her kids in Matching outfits and the DoG in a matching sweater and hair all done up I knew that it had definately been one of the best ideas EVER!!!! It was so GREAT to catch up and hear about the home that they ALMost bought ($750,000 with a slide in the play room...how cool is that???), but decided not too, how "Gifted" their children are, how incredibly smart her HuBby is, and how righteous they are....I almost did my happy dance right there at the pArk! I mean, it was FABULOSO! She told me all about the great state of NM and how she was sooooo glad that she no longer had to put up with all the 'blue collar' workers that they lived by, "because you know what I mean,....they, uhm.................loooong AWKWARD pause.......nothing, nothing, nothing...). I said oh, the blue collar workers like MMM (my main man) the teacher? Or maybe the ones who fix your car? build your house? install your TV stations (oh yeah, you don't watch TV, right! righteous, I forgot...my bad)? stock your grocery shelves? give you your maincures and pedicures? Yeah...it must have really been the pits! I am sure that they were SOOOOOO sad and upset to lose such a prominent accepting citizen as yourself.

My AbSOlute favorite though has got to be all the Social networks. We have this site for our graduating class. SO MUCH LOVE! My buddy big J recently joined and it was great to hear about his life on his swanky profile. I was SOOO EXCITED for him when I read that he "married his trophy wife the first time around so that he didn't have to upgrade later".....come on, really J???? J's got such a lucky wife. I mean, it's TOTally cool that she not only married a highly paid surgeon/dentist/you know, but an insightful, kind, and SUPER sweet guy! WHAT A TREAT!

british actress?

So I bit the bullet and went down to our local Gym (who's name I won't mention) and joined. I swore never to return to this particuLar gym, but my BFF had an extra pass and wanted me to workout with her...I know, I'm telling you, my BFF's are the GREATEST! Any who, after getting the 2 minute tour and not being able to get out of the child proofed day care...hey now, careful!! We were just leaving when this woman approached and, you'll Never GuEss what she said! She told me that my "face was very pretty and reminded her of, you know, that one British actress.... Ohhhh, long pause, come on she plays in.... you know, THAT movie.... the one with, you know, THAT guy in it.........oh, come on, I can't remember the movie....HER name....". I politely said thnx as we left. After I got ta thinkin about the weirdness that had just passed, I started to wonder which British actress...So, what da ya think?

gifted

Well, love you guys! I have news. We found out that our son is GiFTed. Now we don't like to use the word GiFTed, well, because, you know long pause - AWKWARD - we just don't exactly know how other parents will respond to it. He is reading way above others his age, he is THE StAr of his Sports TeaMS, everyOne wants to be his BFF, he is handsome as ALL GETouT, but being the humble people we are and knowing that sometimes others just can't handle that kind of truth, (we were just somehow lucky enough to be blessed with the ability to accept the differences among people who may or MAY NoT be like us) we like to say he's UnIQue. Everyone has their challenges, this just happens to NOT be one of ours. Thnx for totally letting me share our news..luv yer guts!! PS It's his - Sam's - B_DaY in a couple of weeks. He's turning 4!

blocking a spike

I LOVE it when I am running late for VollEYball and my sports bras are in the washer. Really, I mean, sigh what does a girl do? Grab the closest thing to a sports bra you have slap it on hoping it does the trick. I guess there's always duct tape or ace bandages, but come on, really, who does that kind of thing? I opted for a good old fashion bra. I got to my CO-ed game and told my BFF's the scoop. They were laughing and we decided at the least it would be a distraction for the other team. You know, kinda like our secret weapon!! How cool is that? I was actually a secret weapon. At one point in our game I jumped up to block a sPIkE and on my way down....yep, My right side got a little 'HuNg Up' on the net, if you know what I mean! Oops. One hazard I had not considered when playing vollEyBall without a Uni-bo_ _.

bless their hearts

Do you remember Y2K? Yeah, me too. Banks down, life stopping midnight panic, no food....NoT. Well I have this totally FAb neighbor who is into all things natural and Wunderful. Did you know????? That the pioneers - bless their hearts - used to get a case of DIE arrhea while walking those plains. What did they do you ask? Well after praying of course, they would take SunFlowers and use them to make a apecial anti-DIE arrhea tea and VoILa!! Problem solved. Why bring up Y2K you ask? Simply because if there ever is a food shOrtage - do you have your year supply -and I hAve to consume whatever is available, no medications for ailments...I for one wIll NOT be suffering from DIE arrhea.

BTW does anyone know what vitamin is abundant in pine needles? (hence the DIE arrhea talked about earlier)

joys of biking

I love getting out on my bike...mountain bike, road bike, pulling kids or...NoT, I love it. So when we - a BBF anD ME - headed out on what was assuradely going to be a SIMPLE bike ride to school you can only imagine what happened! I mean, 6 kiddos, bikes and a BFF who doesn't bike so muCh make 4 one gReat LaUGh. Who doesn't love bikes with chains that fall off every few blocks, geEAsy fingers, and NO complaining at all because of course the kids ALL LUUV it (uh-huh). In that short 1.5 mile ride, we had a flat tire, one child almost got hit showing us his 'trick' riding, it started to down pour, chains fell off, babies were crying, my BFF was soaked head to bum cheek (only one...we were wondering if that means maybe one is slightly bigger? Hmmm)let me tell you it was great! For some reason my BFF hasn't ridden to school with us since. She's really missing out on all the joys of biking wouldn't you say?

neighborhood love

Okay so my life is pretty great living here in this valley with lots of X-tremly hAppy people. Take our neighbors XHN - x-tremly happy neighbors. They smile all of the time. I think their cheeks would start to hurt after a while with all that smiling. I chalk it up to the simple fact that they must really love my little fam. One of the first things they did after we moved in was to put up a HUNORMOUS privacy fence. Wasn't that SuCh a nice thing to do? I know, i Know. Actually I don't know how we ended up gettin' so lucky. This summer when we were out of town and our garden flooded BIG time, GuEsS What???? .......Yep. You got it. When we got home they told us all about it. How the water was shooting up past the trees and they sat there watching it for us so we could be sure to know Xactly how long it flooded for. Lucky lucky, luuucky!! Otherwise, how would we have ever known why our garden died. Love those neighbors!
